The 57th FirstBank Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championship came to an exciting end yesterday with a closing ceremony and award cocktail event.
In a statement the Managing Director/CEO of FirstBank of Nigeria Limited, Dr. Adesola Adeduntan he congratulated the Ikoyi Club for organizing this Championship for 57 long years. “And more interesting is the fact that First Bank of Nigeria Limited is sponsoring it for the 57th time! We have been with them from the beginning.”
At the closing ceremony, Mr. Gbenga Shobo, DMD FirstBank in his closing address reiterated his organizations commitment to “support the Championship forever.”
In the same vein, the Chairman of Ikoyi Club 1938, Babatunde Akinyele expressed gratitude to FirstBank for their continued support. “We hope they would remain resolute in this for many more years.”
All winners were presented with award plaques and gift items from different sponsors. The overall winner for the 2018 FirstBank Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championship was Samuel Njoroge. The Kenyan in his acceptance speech thanked the sponsors of the championship and promised to defend his position in 2019.
