Functions
- Helps release energy from carbohydrates, fat and proteins
- Helps maintain all body tissues
Food sources: Tuna, poultry, lean meats, fish, liver, peanuts, peas, whole grain or fortified breads, cereals and pasta
Symptoms of deficiency: Pellagra, diarrhea, mental disorders, skin rash and irritability.
Symptoms of overdose: Skin rash, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, ulcer activation, low blood pressure, fast heart rate, high blood sugar, abnormal liver function and jaundice.
