Last night at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City ended Liverpool’s unbeaten streak, one the reds have maintained since the beginning of the 2018/2019 Premier League Season.
Liverpool still being in the top position despite last night loss has dropped 3 points from the initial 7 they headed the defending champions with, making the league title race open to other teams.
The game between Manchester City and Liverpool started at 21:00 GMT and although the first leg at Anfield ended a goalless draw, the Cityzens fought hard to secure 3 points for themselves.
In an interview before the commencement of the match, Pep Guardiola, the coach for the home team was skeptical about the outcome of the match, he reportedly said “if we lose, we lose.” Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager also admitted that their opponent were currently the best team in the world.
The first half ended in the favour of Manchester City with Sergio Aguero striking at the 40th minute. 19 minutes into the second half Roberto Firmino equalized the game while Leroy Sane sealed the win for the men in blue on the 72nd minute.
With 4 points ahead on their contenders, will Liverpool maintain the top spot to win the title after over 10 years? Or will they walk alone?
