Super Falcons of Nigeria and Banyana Banyana of South Africa Qualify for World Cup

The Super Falcons of Nigeria secured their World Cup Ticket after defeating the Cameroonian side four goals to two. This win guarantees the teams place in the finals of AWCON and the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

On the official handle of the Super Falcons a tweet went out to celebrate their win. “Despite tough beating Cameroon, we are happy and proud to reach our third successive final of the CAF AWCON.”

The FIFA Women’s World Cup on its official twitter handle stated that “Nigeria is the first African team to qualify for the 2019 FIFAWWC!”

Some of the Presidential candidates have reacted to this win on their social media platforms. On Twitter, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili tweeted “They did it! Our Amazons,@NGSuper_Falcons, are off to the #TotalAWCON18 finals through sheer resilience and fighting spirit. Well done girls and see you at the top!”

Atiku Abubakar said “the Super Falcons are in the finals! I will be supporting them to win the cup.”

The Super Falcons will have to face South Africa again in the final game. The South African side won their game against Mali two goals to nil.
