Our modern society gives men a chance to be much more connected with their families. And in turn, women are finally getting opportunities to develop identities that are not defined solely by motherhood. Still, a lot of women prefer a man to play the role of a leader. So, what a modern man should do for self-improvement, to prove that he can be a leader not only in business world but in his own family includes the following;
- It will be useful to learn a new language. It can be used in your work or for travelling
• Read more in order to be interesting to talk to. Watch less of Television
• Start sport training
• Create a healthy diet
• Improve your relationship with your wife, family or girlfriend
• Improve your working performance, aim for promotion
• Make a budget
• Try improving your confidence
• Know how to say “no”
• Invest in your education, health, and appearance
In addition today’s society needs men who are not just physically strong, but mentally and emotionally balanced in other to succeed in any endeavour. It is quite unfortunate that the youth of today now place priority on physical attributes like the perfect body shape a.k.a, six packs, and weird hair styles, low waist (sagging), and indulging in money ritual hiding under the guise of yahoo plus, the abuse of drugs and other substances, thereby drifting far from what the society expects from them.
It is quite appalling today how men have resorted to the use and abuse of drugs in order to ‘get high’ and feel accepted by peers. Recent BBC investigative documentary titled ‘sweet sweet codeine’ comes to mind, I would strongly advise every youth to go see the video. There you’ll understand what you and I are up against.
It is estimated that over 3 million codeine bottle syrups is consumed daily by youths; this is besides the abuse of Tramadol and other drugs! The role of a father in bringing up children is invaluable; do not destroy it today with short-lived, mundane and inane pleasures.
It is known that children from single-parent families tend to encounter more difficulties in grown up life and some studies suggest that kids, that were raised without a father and had no father figure in their lives, are more likely to be aggressive and quick to anger, involved in illegal activities, drop out of schools due to lack of effort and motivation, and having psychological and emotional problems stopping them from having their own families.
On the flip side, children raised by caring fathers have better educational outcomes, better verbal skills, sound intellectual functioning, and other advantages. No matter what the current state of manhood is, the role of a husband and a father is invaluable and will never be substituted.
Traditional pristine and unsullied values are worth fighting for, and deserve to be in existence in order to sustain healthy generations. The vitality of these traditional values is indispensable in the formation of a 21st century man. The man still remains, undisputed, the leader, protector and provider.
