A group of concerned protesters on Monday, 17th February 2020, demanded the sack of Adams Oshiomhole, who is the National Chairman of All Progressive Congress Party. The protesters under the aegis of the APC young stakeholders stormed the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, displaying placards with inscriptions: ‘Oshiomhole Must Go’, ‘Oshiomhole go home’, and ‘We are tired of losing.’
The group faulted the leadership pattern of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, which they said, is responsible for the seats lost in States such as Oyo, Zamfara, Bauchi and others that were under the control of the APC before the 2019 general elections in the country. One of the leaders of the protest, Mathias Omikpa, accused Adams Oshiomhole of being responsible for the losses, and reversals the party has experienced in recent times.
The protesters also suggested that President Muhammadu Buhari intervened in the running of the party. The protesters said that the President’s involvement will stop misfortunes from occurring in the APC as it is currently experiencing under the leadership of Adams Oshiomhole.
Recently, APC lost the governorship position in Bayelsa State to the People’s Democratic Party.
