The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has denied the allegation that it appointed former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (retd) to negotiate Igbo Presidency on its behalf.
Mr Chuks Ibegbu, Spokesman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in a statement expressed dismay over comments that Gowon was appointed by the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization to lead the negotiation for Nigeria presidency of Igbo extraction in 2023.
The group warned people who make statements using the name of the organisation to refrain from such acts or they will be prosecuted for impersonation.
The Ohanaeze also stated that it had not made any move yet to see notable personalities mentioned by the media, adding that if such is to be done, appropriate organs of group will notify Nigerians.
“Besides, the youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo is led by Arthur Obiora from Anambra State and not anyone else,” it said.
The socio-cultural organisation has also raised concern over the alarm by the Abia State Government that some almajirai from the North have infiltrated the state in large numbers.
The group which wondered how that happened when the state borders were supposed to be closed, asked for full investigation of the matter with a view to sending them back from where they came if confirmed.
The residents in different parts of Abia State are currently living in fear following the interception of a group of almajirai loaded in cattle truck on their way to the state.
