Over the last couple of days, I have shared various examples of circumstances where we exhibit this culture of shame as Africans. From our native names, to local dishes, language and clothing. The Africa we want will not fall from the sky, it will take deliberate efforts from every individual, institution and nation.
This is why we have designed the African Culture and Creativity Hub Summer Program. African Culture and Creativity (AC&C) Hub is an initiative of Teo-Inspiro International aimed at preserving the rich African cultural heritage for future generations. We are empowering kids and teens to be self-aware and understand their identity as Africans by leveraging digital and onsite learning platforms to achieve this goal.
We are hosting the most exciting program for kids, age 6 to 15 years old this summer in Nigeria, United Kingdom, Canada and United States of America. We have a line-up of amazing courses from our original Leadership & Self-Awareness Series to Language classes, Arts and Craft, Sculpting, Dance, Drums, African soup preparation, photography and videography and a lot more.
As we become global citizens with nomenclatures like British-Nigerian, German-Nigerian or Ugandan-American becoming more popular; we must be deliberate in ensuring our young people have a clear sense of identity. The Asian and Jewish communities are very good examples of deliberately preserving cultural heritage and identity; no matter where they migrate, to every generation has a strong sense of belonging to an ancestry of greatness.
I sense a renaissance! I see that young people are quite interested in learning about their cultural heritage and identity. We need more platforms that would be designed deliberately for this purpose.
My team and I are working on a project that I am so excited to share with you; African Culture and Creativity Hub!
