A total of 15-man COVID-19 medical team from China has landed in Nigeria. The visiting Chinese medical team arrived Wednesday evening. They are in the country on invitation by The China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
They arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where they were received by the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, accompanied by the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Zhou Pingjian. The personnel were invited to assist Nigeria in efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nigerians have publicly condemned the Federal Government’s decision to invite the Chinese doctors to help tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
Also, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) on Monday rejected the invitation of the Chinese doctors, saying the government has displayed total disrespect for the Nigerian health workers who are in the frontline of the country’s quest to tackle the pandemic.
