After Kano State Government dethroned Alhaji Muhammedu Sanusi on Monday March 9th 2020, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has installed Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as the new Emir of Kano.
Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero’s installation came hours after his predecessor was banished. The former Emir of Kano was accused of insubordination by Kano State Executive Council.
Although, many argued that the former Central Bank of Nigeria governor’s dethronement was a result of not supporting Governor Ganduje’s re-election last year.
Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero ascended the throne and has since been recognized as the new Emir of Kano State.
Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero was born in 1961 to the family of the 13th Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero as the second child of the monarch.
He had his primary school education in Kofar Kudu Primary School in Kano and later proceeded to Government Secondary School, Birnin Kudu.
After his secondary school education, Aminu Ado Bayero gained admission to study Mass Communication at Bayero University Kano. His love for education necessitated his travel to Flying College, Oakland, California, US.
Upon his return to Nigeria, he went for his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the Nigeria Television Authority, Makurdi. As a communication graduate, he worked briefly as spokesperson at Kabo Air.
In 1990, Aminu’s father, Ado Bayero appointed him as the Dan Majen Kano and also doubled as district head of Dala.
Impressed with Aminu’s leadership role, his father in October that same year promoted him to the position of Dan Buram Kano. Two years after, Turakin Kano and later Sarkin Dawakin Tsakar Gida Kano in 2000.
Alhaji Aminu also has experience serving as the chairman of the Kano emirate durbar committee before he was promoted to Wamban Kano in 2014 by his predecessor, Alhaji Muhammed Sanusi II.
Governor Ganduje appointed Alhaji Aminu as the Emir of Bichi in 2019. A year after, he became the 15th Emir of the State. He was installed on March 9th 2020, the same day his predecessor was sacked and banished.
