The Ministry of Health in Cameroon on Friday, 6th March 2020, confirmed its first case of coronavirus, a 58-year-old French citizen who arrived the country’s capital Yaounde on 24th Feb.
The ministry made known in a statement that the man has been quarantined in the city’s Central Hospital and all measures have been taken by the government to contain potential risks of the virus spreading.
Cameroon is the eighth country in Africa to report coronavirus after Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria,Tunisia, Senegal and South Africa. The total number of cases on the continent is 29.
