A lawmaker representing Obudu Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Godwin Akwaji is dead.
He was said to have died at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) from illness suspected to be Coronavirus.
A source who is a family member reacting to his death on her Facebook wall, said, “My brother-in-law nursed him for the last two weeks up until yesterday.
“The government needs to tell us what killed him. He died at the isolation centre I suppose, so we still need to know the facts. My in-law is self isolating.”
Mr Ifere Paul, a Facebook user while reacting on his death wrote: “I spoke to Hon. Godwin Akwaji weeks before the LGA elections. He told me what a wonderful chairman I’ll make. He ended our conversation on a sad note though.
“That the establishment does not want intelligent people like me, and was afraid I might not make it because I am not somebody’s stooge. I just got information from Agba Jalingo that Hon. Akwaji is late now. He was such a nice guy. May his soul find rest.”
Hon. Akwaji was well-known in his constituency and was a staunch member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
