Over the years I have heard people talk about how a particular food or fruit is bad for the health. With the advent of social media, different fads began to spread about some foods being harmful to a particular organ of the body and so on.
Well, I am a firm believer in the report in the Bible where it was stated that God said everything he created was good; this of course includes the foods we eat. The challenge however is that human beings find it difficult to obey the principle of moderation, we tend to do things in excess especially when we like them.
Starchy foods are not bad, sugars are not bad, fried foods or oils are not bad, the challenge is that we need to apply moderation in our consumption. Do not eat an excess of carbohydrate, protein or fatty foods, find a balance and apply moderation.
You do not have to load your plate full with rice or pasta, while the sources of protein and vitamins do not cover ten percent of your plate. You do not have to eat yam in the morning, rice in the afternoon and semo in the evening, apply some moderation. Do you really need five pieces of orange-sized beef in your soup to ensure you have protein supplied?
Guys, the key to enjoying the variety of foods we have available is to consume them in moderation. No food is bad, it is our eating pattern that will determine if we maximize the nutrients inherent in them or cause health challenges for ourselves.
