Yesterday was the first time I watched a movie in the cinema without dosing off for a minute or two, and guess what, it was a Nollywood movie titled ‘Sugar Rush’. The first scene was so captivating and it stayed that way all through the film. I haven’t watched any movie as interesting as this.
Sugar Rush is a film with elements of comedy which made it more captivating for me, as the ‘Sugar Sisters’ (Susan: Adesuwa Etomi and Sola: Bisola Aiyeola) found a sum of $800,000 in a building after the death of a Chief: Jide Kosoko and his boys. Sugar rush explains what happens when someone stumbles on ‘free money’ which I would term as ‘Awoof’ in Nigerian palace.
Adesuwa’s role was so mature and captivating to me because she always had her mother and sisters in mind which for me was a show of taking responsibility.
The sound, makeup, costume design, video quality and direction of Sugar Rush were on point. I was thrilled by the camera movement when Susan, Sola and Bola threw the money to themselves; although, I actually felt the repetitive scene was too long. I really loved the set design of the movie, every scene was so colourful.
This movie is filled with amazing actors who made the creativity and originality topnotch. A big thumbs up to the director Kayode Kasun and the Producer Jade Osiberu for the great piece of art.
