An American pilot identified as Joyce Lin, on Tuesday, died while traveling to deliver COVID-19 rapid test kit to Indonesia.
Miss Lin was flying her single-engine Kodiak aircraft to the village of Mamit in the Papua highlands, where she had planned to deliver a shipment of coronavirus test kits to a local clinic.
The missionary who has been working with the Mission Aviation Fellowship, MAF, serving as a pilot and an information technology specialist, reported an emergency minutes after take off.
Indonesian search and rescue divers later confirmed to MAF that Lin did not survive the accident. The MAF staff in Papua and Jakarta are working with authorities on the investigation of the accident.
The aircraft fell into Lake Sentani and divers confirmed she did not survive and she was the only one aboard the plane.
