FirstBank, the pioneer financial institution in Nigeria, partnered with the University of Ibadan to run a Graduate Recruitment/Career Fair as part of activities in the institution’s 70th Foundation day anniversary in 2018 and the second edition as party of the 2019 Convocation ceremonies.

The career Fair is an event which organizations spanning diverse industries and sectors are given the opportunity to engage the exceptionally talented final year students if the University.
In his address, FirstBank’s CEO, Dr. Adesola Adeduntan enjoined students to have a clear plan for their lives and career; focus and envision what they want for their future and work towards achieving their goals.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abel Olayinka who was ably represented by the DVC, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo in his welcome address appreciated FirstBank for their partnership and acknowledged the First Bank CEO as a “worthy alumnus of this university”. He went on to make it clear that “certificate is no longer enough post university; the world ofvworj requires skills such as creativity, critical thinking, complex problem solving, entrepreneurial thinking and mindset…”

A panel session consisting of the DVC, Prof Olanike Adeyemo, Rosie Ebe-Arthur, Group Head HCMD FirstBank and Steve Harris, CEO, EdgeEcution discussed the topic Entrepreneurial Mindset and the Future of Work.
Other speakers included Lola Ekugo, on Digital Innovation, and Ayodele Juwape.
Graduates and final year students were then given an opportunity to meet with prospective employers.
