A new documentary about the famous Argungu Fishing Festival is now showing on YouTube. In this documentary, Oghenefego Ofili shares her experience at the festival in 2020 and provides information how to prepare to attend the festival.
This documentary provides a historical background about the festival, socioeconomic potential and advocacy for the government to invest in the tourism industry.
A lecture of African Cinema/Screen Media and Postcolonial Studies, Dr Tunde Onikoyi in a brief review said “…cool media-mix. Meticulously put together. Very commendable. It is an engaging and thoughtful documentary which explores the history of an all important festival niche in Northern Nigeria. This is a splendid example of a film essay, steeped in disparate and contemporary cultural displays. A formidable work to think highly of.”
This film is a must watch!
