President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covid-19 to increase their efforts in contact tracing of those infected with Coronavirus so as to reduce the rate of transmission.
The chairman of the PTF on Covid-19, Mr Boss Mustapha, told State House correspondents at the end of the teleconference that the president also challenged the PTF to flatten the curve of the virus as soon as possible.
Mustapha said: “In the last two weeks, we have reached where we are now and the President is conscious of the fact that we need to flatten the curve as soon as possible.”
”We have been able to trace and find the people, conduct numerous tests and break the chain of any community transmission.”
“I can’t assure you that there won’t be transmission, but if we are able to get over it, then we can deal with it decisively.”
“The President has ordered a committee to observe the new measures which were introduced so that the economy can operate with it.”
“The Presidential Task Force need to team up with the Minister of Agriculture and the committees on food security and fertilizer to ensure that the adverse effect of Covid-19 on farming is minimized. There is a necessity for people to cultivate their farmlands so that sufficient food is provided for the people. The strength of the nation is in its ability to feed itself.”
Mustapha appealed to Nigerians to be patient as new measures have been put in place to curtail the virus and ensure our safety.
