Algeria and Egypt have reportedly confirmed new cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) on Monday,1st March, 2020, increasing the number of affected individuals in Africa.
The Health Ministry in Algeria confirmed that a 53-year-old woman and her 24-year-old daughter tested positive for the virus. The also confirmed that the affected individuals live in the city of Blida, which is 50 km south-west from the country’s capital, Algiers.
The ministry said they recently hosted a man, 83, and his daughter visiting from France, who were tested positive for coronavirus after their return to France, prompting the health authorities in Algeria to test the hosts.
Meanwhile in Egypt, a foreigner has tested positive for the new coronavirus, becoming the second case in the country, their health ministry kept the affected individual nationality anonymous, It added that the first person has recovered and has been discharged from the isolation hospital.
