The 2018 edition of Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) has been a remarkable experience for filmmakers and lovers of film across Africa and beyond. This year’s theme is ‘The Many Faces of A Woman’ is an invitation to pay closer attention to the portrayal of women in cinema. It attempts to raise discussions on contemporary rendering and gaze on the question: What is Woman?
In the foreword for this year’s program, the Founder and Festival Director, Chioma Ude reiterated her commitment to projecting an international spotlight on exciting new African talent and cinematic achievement.
In her statement she said, “We are inspired by all the films and filmmakers we get to encounter their work and hope to continue building partnerships that create value and opportunity for the film industry and its value chain.”
The Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) also provides a platform for capacity building and networking. Through the industry programmes – keynote conversations, panel discussions and masterclasses, participants are given an opportunity to engage in meaningful discuss with key players in the film industry.
Various film forms are also showing at the festival – feature films, short films, animations, documentaries and international panorama. You can still be a part of the festival if you are currently in Lagos Nigeria.
The event holds daily from 10am at Genesis Cinema, The Palms Lekki. The AFRIFF Globe Awards will hold on Saturday November 17th 2018.
