It is very easy to write goals, especially fitness goals, but achieving them is a different ball game entirely. I have always been conscious of my diet, mostly because of my area of academic specialization. I was doing fine when it came to my diet, but I could not say same about my fitness. So, I decided I needed to start exercising regularly.
Immediately I made that decision it was as though all the obstacles on earth reared their ugly head. Let me share some excuses I gave for not exercising.
- I am not overweight. This was the first excuse on my list. Since I did not need to lose weight, engaging in exercise was not compulsory for me.
- My environment is not safe for jogging. From my experience watching movies, people who jog do it in a safe, clean and serene environment. Since I was living at Aguda, the capital of bad roads in Lagos, I decided it was not a good idea.
- I do not have the right outfit. I did not have all the nice things people who jog have, like a Nike footwear, pedometer, vest, etc.
- I am very busy, no time for exercise.
These were some of the excuses I gave for not exercising. I will like to hear yours, leave a comment below. In my next article I will share how I overcame my excuses.
