The UK Prime Minister, Theresa May, yesterday won the No Confidence vote called for by 48 member of her own party.
The PM has faced fierce opposition since she submitted the Brexit deal from the European Union. Some members of her party have publicly opposed the deal in parliament.
On Wednesday, 48 members of the conservative party submitted their letters to the ‘1922 Committee’ and this trigger a no confidence vote on the PM.
While most analysts knew she would win, they were not sure by what margin. Theresa May only needed a majority to win the vote.
After votes were counted, she got 200 votes of confidence to 117; that is 83 votes margin. This will surely act as a boost to her resolve to continue negotiations and lobbying of the EU member States for a better deal if possible.
