Japa is a term used in Nigeria to refer to leaving the country in search for greener pasture. Since the 70’s and 80’s there have various waves of ‘Japa syndrome’ amongst the mid-class as they seek better opportunities in their careers and a higher standard of living. This wave is back and Nigerians; especially young ones are leaving the country in droves. One would wonder if some people are really thinking purposefully about their move or just following the bandwagon effect.
