Some weeks ago I shared four excuses I gave for not committing to a consistent exercise routine. In that article, I shared that I wanted everything to be perfect before I started engaging in exercise. Well, if you missed it you can still check it out on the website.
Today I will share how I overcame each excuse I gave for not exercising.
Excuse 1: I am not overweight
To overcome this excuse I had to change my mindset about exercising. That it is not only for losing weight, but it helps the organs and systems of my body function optimally. I also did not want to keep complaining about body pain after a ‘stressful’ day; I wanted to be fit, agile and strong. This I realized could only be achieved if I started exercising.
Excuse 2: My Environment is not safe for Jogging
Since I was not comfortable jogging in the environment I was residing at the times, I decided to start with indoor exercises like skipping. This did not require my going outside; I could do my skipping indoors.
Excuse 3: I do not have the right outfit
Well, since I was not going outdoors I could do my skipping with whatever outfit I had at the time. From boxers and a polo, to my sleeping clothes or even naked; I did not need any special outfit to exercise in my house.
Excuse 4: I am very busy, no time for exercise
I finally realized that creating time for the things that are important to me should be a priority. I had to commit to the best time an exercise routine will work for me based on my schedule. I also realized that I did not have to exercise every day and it could be for 30, 15 or 10 minutes. It did not have to be for an hour or more.
There you have it; how I overcame my excuses. I have progressed from indoor skipping to jogging at least three times in a week.
What has your exercise experience been? You can share with me.
