Here are some Nollywood movies that are currently in the works and set for release in 2020.
- Citation
This is a new film directed by veteran filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan that tells the story of a postgraduate student, Moremi Oluwa who had to deal with sexual harassment from a popular lecturer. This film features the Chairman of First Bank Nigeria, Ibukun Awosika (acting debut); Temi Otedola (acting debut); Joke Silva; Haitian-French actor and model, Jimmy Jean-Louis; Ini Edo; Ghanaian actor, Adjetey Anang; Gabriel Afolayan; Sadiq Daba; Yomi Fash; French-Ivorian actor and screenwriter, Raymond Reboul, alongside the Legendary Nigerian Afrobeat artiste, Seun Kuti (acting debut). It is set to show in cinemas soon.

- Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story
A remake of Rattlesnake is currently in the works by Play Networks – the same production team that brought the remake of “Living In Bondage” last year. Film producer, Charles Okpalaeke (CEO of Play Networks Africa) revealed the remake of Rattlesnake will be released by December this year. The cast of this remake include Osas Ighodaro, Efa Iwara, Elma Mbadiwe, Odera Adimorah,Emeka Nwagbaraocha, Tobi Bakare and others. Ramsey Noah directed the movie, while Nicole Asinugo was the writer. We are so looking forward to this one.
- Nneka The Pretty Serpent
A remake of Nneka the Pretty Serpent is set to be released in December 2020. It will be directed by Ramsey Noah and written by Uyoyou Adia. A classic in every right, Nneka the Pretty Serpent which was first released in 1992 had an ensemble cast of some of the biggest names in Nollywood today. We so look forward to the remake from same production company that brought us Living In Bondage in 2018.
- King of Boys 2
A follow-up of Kemi Adetiba’s King of Boys released in 2018 is in the works and will be hitting the cinema sometime in the near future. We guess that the cast of the first release of this movie will be featured with addition of new faces. Based on what we have seen on social media new additions to cast include Nse Ikpe-Etim, BamBam and TeddyA (from BBNaija) and Taiwo Ajai-Lycett.
5. La Femme Anjola
La Femme Anjola, a film noir psychological thriller. Set in Lagos, Nigeria, West Africa and Cape Town, South Africa, “La femme Anjola” (the woman Anjola) is about a young male stock broker whose life is turned upside down when he falls in love with the wife of a wealthy gangster. The film’s cast also includes Joke Silva, Femi Jacobs, Aderounmu Adejumoke, Bassey Ekpeyong, Uzor Osimkpa, Michelle Dede, Mumbi Maina and Soso Soberekon. It was written by Tunde Babalola and directed by Mildred Okwo. The film is scheduled for release in 2020. Watch the teaser here
6. DOD
“DOD” has been described as a family adventure drama based on two teenagers, Chidi and Rotimi. They get the opportunity to use magic to travel back in time and change the financial situation of their parents. DOD is coming from Anthill Studios, it was directed by Akhigbe Ilozobhie (aka Akay Mason) and Abosi Ogba. The cast includes Denola Grey, Olumide Oworu, Jide Kososko, Nobert Young, Ireti Doyle Ini Dima- Okojie, Toyin Abraham, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Gbemi Akinlade, Instagram sensations Broda Shaggi, and Og Tega.
