Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade made a declaration to employ 8000 youths between the age of 18 and 35 years in the State from next week Tuesday.
Ayade made the declaration at Cross River State Property Development and Investment Limited (CROSPIL) in Calabar on Wednesday during the distribution of stimulus package to the vulnerable as well as citizens who cannot fend for themselves due to age, incapacitated or disabled across the 18 LGAs of the State.
Ayade said, “Distributing food is not the real palliative, the real palliative is giving people jobs. The Temporal Palliative is for the poor and vulnerable who cannot fend for themselves.”
“We are starting the real palliative on Tuesday, whether you are a gardener or cleaner, we will give you a job with a N30,000 pay. If you know you need it and you want to earn that amount, please put your names and phone numbers down, you will be contacted.”
“The food will be shared through the traditional rulers,churches and other religious organisations to the grassroots. This is not about political party, it’s about governance.”
“This is a time to show humanity which is not a respecter of colour or ethnicity, we need to stop panicking about the pandemic. Love should be shown in the period because fear and hunger are kills more than the pandemic.”
