The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama disclosed at the Presidential Task Force Briefing on COVID-19 on Monday, 11th May 2020 that there are now over 600 evacuees in Lagos and Abuja. He made it known during the briefing that the evacuation process will be slowed downed a bit for space; before bringing in more citizens.
Mr Onyeama said: “The evacuation of Nigerians from different countries in the world is reaching its saturation point. The evacuation of Nigerians from Dubai, UK and New York was successful. He Stressed that a lot went wrong with logistics in the case of passengers who were transported to Abuja; better arrangement will be made to prevent any future recurrence.”
“There are still so many Nigerians outside the country needing evacuation. More will be brought in when those on ground have been better sorted.”
