The President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina was in a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria earlier on Tuesday.

President Buhari released a short statement assuring Akinwumi Adesina of his support for another term as the Bank’s President. His statement read, “Nigeria stands solidly behind Akinwumi Adesina in his re-election bid as President of the African Development Bank (AfDB). We will work with all leaders, and stakeholders in AfDB, to ensure that he re-elected, on the strength of his achievements during this first term.”

This comes as a boost to Mr Adesina’s bid for reelection against the backdrop of recent allegations brought against him.
He has also gotten public support from President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone who sent a message saying, “Be assured @akin_adesina of my and my country’s staunch confidence and unflinching support for your bold and progressive leadership of the African Development Bank.”
